The machine can be used lightly on carpets occasionally if required. **Q: What happens when the head is moved backwards under vacuum and Steam cleaning, Will the vacuum pickup wet dirt lifted by steam ?** A: This sometimes leaves a residue when pulling the mop back after it has been going a while. It's the mop head that gathers dirt at the edge of it. Sometimes I wait for it to cool and change the mop. Other times I remove the odd tidemark with kitchen paper.
