I am very pleased with them. I have them since the summer and washed them in between! No problem and still sooo soft! Compared to the real techniques brushes that I have, I would say these are softer. **Q: Is there a difference between essential 6 piece set and a 10 piece kabuki brush set in quality?** A: Same quality gorgeous brushes **Q: What is the flat top kabuki brush for?** A: For product's like Dream matte mousse, it blends such products perfectly, it's the main reason i bought the set. **Q: how long are the brushes?** A: In order the brushes are Powder brush 17.5cm, Blush brush 17cm, Flat Kabuki brush 16.5cm, Blending brush 16.25cm, Small Shaper brush 15.5cm, Angled Detailer brush 14.75cm. The beautiful cylindrical box they opens top & bottom so they can stand up in the bottom for you to use if you choose. That box closed round them is 20cm high & has a dia of 6.5cm. You may not wish to travel with it as it is bulky & made of cardboard but it is very rigid cardboard. I was choosing between this, EmaxDesign 10 + 1, and the bigger 10 piece Lamora set. In the end, I realised that I could buy both the Emax and this set for the same price as the bigger Lamora set, so I did. Now let me tell you - Lamora is the real deal. I wish I had bought the big set. I was hoping that all these top rated Amazon brushes were produced in the same factory with different branding (and ultimately, different prices), however I was clearly very wrong. My Lamora brushes are really fantastic, super soft, well-designed, and pretty much complete my make-up bag. (I would like a small brush for concealer too - but hey, this is why you should buy the bigger set ;) ) You almost don't need the brushes to say what they are to be used for (which they do) because the brushes are all so different that it is quite obvious. Like other reviewers, I must say that there is a strong smell when you first open the packet, but this easily goes away with washing. The case for the brushes, although not made of leather as per the picture, still looks very smart. These brushes are far better in quality than clinique & mac brushes which I have owned in the past, and I really love the kabuki style.In comparison - on the very first day, one of my emax brushes broke off at the head and many others are already loose. They are no where near as soft as the Lamora brushes. They do give excellent value for money, and I do still use one of the smaller brushes everyday for under eye concealer BUT you pretty much get the same brush 5 times over & all of the brushes are too big for really detailed make-up application. If you are looking to fill in gaps in your brush collection, Emax is ideal. I have to say i was blown away by the look, feel and overall quality of these brushes. They were not just good for the price, they were exceptional...and looked very expensive. I was very impressed that they were shaped nicely and the ferrule had a firm grip to the handle and bristles. They had a nice weight to them and were sturdily built, but even though they look great on your dresser and as a gift, the main thing is if they produce amazing results also. Well the answer is they worked amazingly..They were just so soft on the skin and did not irritate my sensitive skin at all. They blended the product to a seamless finish and honestly i could not believe the results. This is a must have and anyone thinking of buying it, should do so. With so many brush sets on the market, its hard to find one that works. The flat brush is great for my liquid foundation and no hairs have fell out yet as a lot of the reviews say. I like the eye blender brush to. Personally I prefer a bit of a bigger brush to apply eye products but its great for just the crease or underneath I'm kicking myself for not getting the 10brushes now but I am not a make up brush expert so I don't have the best brushes to compare to.
