During the summer I used it by itself in the daytime (for baby's skin to breathe as much as possible) then joined it with a microfiber through the night (which normally lasts around 9hrs, but can last up to 12hrs). The small was far too big for my baby until he was around 4 months old (looking back I should have cut the length in half then doubled it up as he grew).
