## Questions & Answers

**Q: What strings would I buy for a beginner starting to learn the guitar?**
A: Hi Leona

If you are looking at playing a metal-strung acoustic guitar (which your Ernie Ball Earthwood's would suggest) then a lighter guage (thinner strings) would be easier to play – but also easier to break if played too hard or over-tightened when tuning. A heavier gauge will sound better and should be harder to break – but will be harder to play.

In the Ernie Ball Earthwoods:

Extra Light 10 -50 gauge
Light 11 -52 gauge
Medium Light 12 -54
Medium 13 – 56

I'd suggest the eleven's (Light 11 -52 gauge).

Something that can make a big difference to the playability of the strings that you put on, is the height of the strings off the fretboard (which is usually refered to as the “action”). If the strings are too high then it will be harder to press them down, but if they are too low they can buzz where they might catch adjacent frets, if the guitar is not set up well.

If you think that the strings might have a high action, then if you put a Capo on the first fret then that might make playing (and learning) easier.

If the guitar has nylon strings on it do not under any circumstance change them for metal strings.

**Q: What strings sound better the medium or medium-light strings?**
A: It is all down to taste and feel. I prefer an 011 set - as I find 012`s too heavy. But others differ with their opinions.

**Q: Can you return the product? I got the wrong strings mistakenly**
A: yes ,after all ,its their mistake.

**Q: The product dimensions are confusing to me what is the actual length of strings**
A: The strings are about 1 m long - easily long enough for any normal guitar. The dimensions quoted are the string diameters. So "medium" is the string gauge (diameter) which is the description for the 0.013" high e string through to 0.056" for the low E string. This is a pretty good gauge / diameter / weight for an acoustic guitar in my opinion.

### ⭐⭐⭐⭐ Amazing… ONLY if you buy the right type!
*by D***N on 2 March 2024*

I recently used “medium-light” EarthWood strings for over a year. The sound is warm and full of depth. Better than any strings I have used. After a string broke after countless hours of playing, I decided to buy the “Rock & Blues” version of these strings. I was aware that they would be thinner, more malleable, and have a different sound. However, I did not predict that the sound quality would be TERRIBLE. This was a big disappointment as I had high hopes for the brand and simply wanted to try something new from them. My recommendation is to buy “Medium-Light” version of these strings. They take a couple weeks to acclimatise to, especially for beginners, but you will immediately notice the amazing sound quality and you’ll be the next Eric Clapton before you know it.
