I decided on this model for a couple of reasons. Firstly it is lightweight and small which is important for me as I sometimes mount my camera on a gimbal so need a mic with a low profile and ideally a low weight. This fits the bill on both accounts and doesn't cause any issues with snagging when fitted on a Sony ZV-E10 II mounted on a DJI RS 4 Mini The second reason is that Rode are one of the best-known manufacturers of microphones and have a reputation for quality. This model doesn't disappoint and gives excellent sound quality, noticeably better than the internal mic on the camera. Despite the light weight, the mic doesn't flop around as much as the previous version did - the design of the mount has been updated and this is an obvious improvement over the original. I also own the older version and the mic would flop down in use - this one is a lot more solid. The mic comes with a foam pop filter which is easy to fit, plus a furry "dead cat" filter. The mount fits to any camera hot shoe as well as a standard cold shoe mount on external brackets etc... The supplied cables give you the option to plug into both TRS and TRRS devices. Often the cables are a bit of an after-thought, however the ones supplied with this mic are perfect for on camera use, being short and very flexible. This particular mic isn't powered, so there's no need to fit a battery - this helps keep the size and weight down too. I must say I’m a bit disappointed that whilst I guess it might produce better quality sound, the volume is really quiet and I’ve had to figure out ways to get it really close to my mouth and increase the volume in post production.
