It's very thin and light. A very little bit goes a long way, and it cleans as well as moisturizes. **Q: Can this be used on unfinshed maple fretboards?** A: I have only rosewood and ebony fretboards therefore I can't remember if this is suitable for unfinished maple fretboards. I think it is best to contact the manufacturer before using it, wrong products can damage the fretboard. **Q: Can this be used with a Rust Birch Laminate fretboard?** A: I'm not familiar with this particular fret board. This is a marvelous product, and the gold standard for years, but is meant to be used on fretboards that can absorb enough of the product to keep the fretboard from drying out and cracking. As a test, you could try a small amount on one fret nearest the sound hole, rub it in, then remove access. If some was absorbed, it should be alright. To be sure, you could contact customer service of the manufacturer first. Quite superb for dark wood fretboards, especially if they've become dry or if you buy a guitar that has been stored poorly and the fretboard looks lifeless and dull. I have used Guitar Honey on all manner of instruments including acoustic, electric and ukulele. Just as good, if not better, than lemon oil. I've used both but prefer to use Guitar Honey. I recently bought a new electric guitar with rosewood fret board which appeared dry and left black marks on my fingers after I played it (probably marker pen left from when the frets wear dressed during manufacture set up). Removed the strings, gave the fret board a quick light spray with Guitar Honey, a buff with dry cloth and there we are a beautiful fret board that looks better and feels better too.
