7 In-/Outdoor Electric Rodent Trap is the waterproof, humane solution to your rodent problem. It can be used outdoors or at damp places when using together with the waterproof cover that comes with the product. It has two ways of powering: You can use either 4 D batteries or USB cord as power source for the trap. It also comes with sound and light alarm that can remind you when to clean up after the trap eliminates the rodent.

Review: Good solid unit that works well. - Very solid and good unit. Very easy to use AND clean; easier than the Victor. I bought mine (I have a half dozen others of another store brand) in August, finally catching my first adult rat about a week ago (rats are smart and suspicious of new stuff so don't panic if they don't use a trap right away) using hulled sunflower seed (no mess), then a second and third adult rat on consecutive nights. I have spent close to $20K on car repair because of rats (my car looks like a disco party at night these days in an effort to ward them off) and I have been determined to stop this constant and expensive problem. I have been trapping since 2010 but live in a rural area and it seems it's going to be impossible to get rid of them entirely. I have a trap inside my car, as well. As long as this unit is appropriately placed (important!), and properly baited, you will get good results. Way, way better than snap traps and my God, just NEVER use poison or sticky pads, both being not only avoidably cruel but really hard on other good species (poison kills anything that eats the rat and sticky pads kill everything that gets on it from good snakes to warblers). I have used the same batteries this entire time since August. I recommend. I'm probably going to buy another. Update: It's now New Years and my trap has caught a couple dozen rats. I have not had to change the batteries since originally placed in trap in August. Still using hulled sunflower seed IN the trap and leading into the trap; works great. Caught four just this week: four very large adults four days in a row. I really, really like this trap.
Review: works! plus it's easy to use. - Best electronic trap yet! I've used a few of this kind of trap for rats, and they're annoying to set up and seem to only work a few times. This one was the best designed (I'm using it, reluctantly, for the chipmunks that are destroying my garden despite all my attempts to keep them away with sprays, etc.) and easiest to use, and it got a chipmunk the first night out. Easy to empty too. It wasn't cheap, but it was worth every penny. Even comes with a waterproof cover.

**Q: Does this work for mice too?**
A: Yes, it is effective for mice.

**Q: Has this trap been reviewed on Mouse Trap Mondays?**
A: As of 30 oct, 2020 Mousetrap Monday has reviewed only the smaller version for mice. He did say he would review the rat trap later.

**Q: Which way is it turned on?? i can't tell. one direction causes a green light for a second and the other way does nothing.**
A: Slide the switch toward the opening where the mouse goes in and that's off. When you slide the switch away the opening the green light comes on to tell you that the batteries are good. The green light then goes out and it's ready to cook the mice. After there is a dead mouse inside the trap, the light will flash red every 10-20 seconds to tell you that the trap has been tripped. Slide the switch toward the opening and then open the trap and dispose of the mouse.

**Q: Can you use it outside??**
A: First off, yes, Mousetrap Monday has reviewed the rat version a year after the mouse one and likes it! - I've used that other trap with the purplish color and blue side labels. It's caught voles (who do come out at night and run along the house wall). When there was rain or a chance it would seep under the porch, I've just placed that other trap on some wood to get it off the concrete and out of reach of water. What I DON'T Like about that trap is that it's very difficult to bait as there is no "door" or easy way to access from the back on the bait side and you have to push through the peanut butter on the end of a 10 inch stick or attempt to drip it into the trap at an angle to get it to the final electrical pad that the rodent has to lick in order to set off the electricity. As time has gone by, that end of the trap is turning nasty as you have to roll a cloth or papertowel onto the end of a stick like a giant Q-Tip to wipe that end of the trap out. This one looks better designed and easy to use and clean out. Shawn suggests that you make sure you buy from the original OWLTRA company store as there are copy-cat listings for this trap.

Best electronic trap yet! I've used a few of this kind of trap for rats, and they're annoying to set up and seem to only work a few times. ### ⭐ 5-Star Snack Bar for Rats

I really wanted this trap to work. With rats running around outside my house (seemingly taunting us, walking right in front of our family as we enjoyed our patio) I finally bit the bullet and bought this one despite the price. I followed the instructions exactly. Fresh batteries, switch turned on, trap properly set. I got a "green light" and a beep to indicate that the trap was set up properly. I also put the weather resistant cover over the unit. I placed it immediately next to a wall where I knew the rats were traveling, since I could literally see them walking along it. I even tried putting food around the trap first to get them used to it, as recommended. For bait, I started with peanut butter and eventually upgraded to Nutella. The rats were still not impressed. They got into the feeder, ate the food, and walked away completely unharmed. How do I know? While cleaning the trap, I could clearly see tiny rat footprints right in front of the food tray. They treated this thing like a free snack bar. After trying to cleverly re-locate the trap a couple of times, it almost became like a free rat food truck. Also--the tray inside the unit isn't easy to clean. It's hard to clean around the (pretty sharp) edge of the electrical plate, especially in the corners of the unit. At this point, it’s just $50 wasted. If you’re looking for something that actually traps rats instead of feeding them, this isn’t it.
