The card stock is hearty, with that delightful matte finish that several of MJ's other decks have. They just feel so good in your hands...and what a handful they are! While I have a number of decks in my collection that are true RWS imagery, lately I've been drawn to decks with unique, themed artwork. I bought this set of cards not because I like cats per se, but because I love collage-style art. Each card is overflowing with symbols and details. For example, I just randomly pulled the King of Pentacles, which features an orange and white cat sitting on a gold and green velvet chair. He (or she) is surrounded by flowering tree branches, sunflowers, roses and a number of other flowers. There's an egg in a nest, a bird, a frog, a mouse, butterflies, and lush greenery. So much to dig into! The colors are somehow both bright and soft at the same time throughout the deck. The overall quality of this deck is exceptional (in my humble opinion). When I first opened the desertcart package, I couldn't believe how big/tall the box was. As with other MJ Cullinane decks, even the box is gorgeous! It's decorated inside and out. This deck has been in my hand's almost non-stop since I received it the other day. Looking forward to really examining each card individually. Great purchase and excellent value for the price. It is beautiful, rich in symbolism, and has immediate heart resonance for me. So, as usual, I immediately drew a “daily message” card. Got the “Devil”-not generally my favorite card. Decided to read the guidebook, not giving in to the temptation to pull another card :). Got the best and most helpful, meaningful description of this card I have ever seen. Highly recommend this deck. I saw these I thought they were cute and playful but fun to do readings with especially with people if they're like me love animals. And I have several decks that have cats and dogs and unicorns. They're great for a first time Clarence that's a little nervous because people seem to freak out if they're going to get a tarot reading or Oracle reading and when you have playful cards then they're more laid back.
