Can't I just use a large food storage container and heat in the microwave? Is there something special about this?** A: Nope, not this effectively because it has much thicker walls than storage containers so it retains heat wonderfully, especially if you actually warm it up IN the warmer. I use this in my restaurant, torts can sit on the assembly line for over an hour and still be warm in this and we tried other containers first and they were cold in minutes. **Q: Will this warmer also keep the Tortillia fresh enough to store them in it?** A: I keep mine in their package in the warmer. **Q: Can it be used in an oven?** A: For microwave and storage use only.
