Our shrimp hide out in there and it does a great job for them, so much so that for a couple of weeks we thought they'd all been eaten as we didn't see them! It's durable and looks great in the tank. I do find these aquarium decorations to be a bit expensive for what they are, but saying this for what you get here I think it's good value for money compared to other alternatives on the market. Ours in in a 60L tall hexagon tank and uses the space nicely. I've got no negatives for this, so if you're thinking of buying, I'd recommend! I made the effort to write a review for this because my first order arrived damaged, but I requested a replacement straight away and even though they asked for the castle to be returned, another castle was dispatched for me that same day. The second castle arrived perfect, thank you. Both castle boxes had a 'fragile' sticker on them, but were placed inside normal desertcart boxes which did not have fragile written on them anywhere. But either way as far as I know, goldfish are not cave dwellers. They might want to hide behind it but not inside. I have lots of very small tropical fishies. The only ones in my tank passing through the castle very occasionally are the corydoras and flying fox. But they don't hide in it. On the other hand lots of them hide behind. When they arrived they stood just over 10cm a lot of people had the same issue I think because the company just send out the small version.
