It's very soft. Not super thick, like a down comforter, but a good thickness for a blanket. There are three layers, outside, inside, and a little bit of batting(?) in between. The outside is a pretty purple, with a short furry texture, sewn with ridges to give extra depth and warmth. The underside is a very pale violet, super soft but not as plush as the outside - more like a slightly longer velvet - sewn flat. There are some lines/wrinkles on the underside that did not come out with washing, but they don't bother me. If you think you might like it, you probably will.
