The red is so shiny you can see your reflection in it. Lid glides off easily. Best kettle I’ve had and worth the money. Everyone admires it! I looked at another review about the lid falling in and this is not true for mine. I could not force the lid down if I tried. It must have been updated. Empty mine weighs about 920g.
