I found Clore was rec'd by several sources, Car & Driver, and this model looked simple and durable; many other jump starters on Amz looked cheap and users complained of bad usb charging systems. This one requires a regular extension cord to charge, but much prefered over a usb-c. It arrived nearly fully charged, took about 5 hours top off the charge though (very slow), and then I started my hybrid right up after it showed fully charged; the Clore still showed nearly 100% charge. It's durable looking, and heavy, but good quality clamps and a simple charge-reader (sry, not a mechanic, but it can be used to read your car battery's charge, when the car is on and connected to the Clore). No USB connections on this model, but it has a 12v female (cigarette lighter jack) for your accessories/USB adapters. Unfortunately my house got flooded with salt water and that killed my jump box, salt water kills batteries and electronics. I tried one of the new smaller lighter 2000 Peak Amp Lithium-Ion Jump Starter from H F. Rite after I purchased it my Ford Explorer had a total alternator failure, It did start the car twice but could not start it a third time in 15 minutes. Tow company tried one of those little packs and it could not power the electronics in the car to get it on the flatbed tow truck, had to use a big jump starter. There is no reserve in those little light weight jump starters, they cannot start totally dead vehicles with bigger motors. Yes this starter pack is a little heavy at 18 pounds with a convenient built in handle compared to those little lightweight 1 pound jump starter packs. This is the equivalent to the average grocery bag with a bag of sugar, flour and some canned goods. There is a reason it is heavy, it has a big rechargeable battery inside of it that is capable of multiple jump starts. It can power your bilge pump to pump out a boat AND start your engine if your battery is dead I gave this Jump-N Carry the ultimate test by starting a 4.2L cold engine with no battery, it had no problem. Try that with those little jump packs. After owning this for awhile I checked the voltage with a good digital voltmeter, it lost .1 volt or 1/10 of a volt after sitting for over 3 months which is nothing. Built in charger works great and will not over charge the unit if plugged in all the time. I choose to not leave it plugged in 24 hours a day as it is not necessary to do so. To charge the Jump Starter you take an ordinary extension that has a 3 prong single female end, plug the cord into the male connector on the jump pack, NO SPECIAL CORD NEEDED, everyone has one, if you don't, you should have one as they are the safest type of extension cord to use.
