And nor does any other hardener I've personally come across. Any hardener would presumably help resist fungi & beetles etc, but before using this I apply such other treatments separately, then put this stuff on the following day. **Q: Can it be applied to wet wood?** A: The instructions on the tin say the wood should be "reasonably dry", so it's best to remove as much of the wet rot as possible and leave the remainder to dry for a while. It worked well that way. My only problem was that the supplier was unable to send this product outside mainland UK, presumably because of postal restrictions on the chemicals in it, and, being in Northern Ireland I ended up buying it from Screwfix. **Q: Work on wood that will be put in soil at allotment, toxic to the soil? i have a spare bottle handy and putting some posts in.** A: Nor sure it will prevent new rot in fresh pressure-treated wood very well - it is very good at hardening existing rot. Probably not very good for the soil either, but possibly better than the creosote we used to use. Hammer-in or cemented base anchors probably a better long-term solution. **Q: Why is this so seriously overpriced** A: Its definitely expensive . Wow! The areas I applied were spongy and are now rock hard!! No doubt I'll need to address the issue properly when the weather is better but this will hopefully stop the rot and get me though winter. Brilliant!Edit - A week later and the area was spongy again. No real fault of the product as it does state to remove any loose or crumbling wood. I was hoping for a quick fix but I have now removed the rotting wood and reapplied. I will report back.Edit: So I would definitely recommend following the instructions! After removing the soft wood I applied this which now gives me a solid base to add somewood filler.
