Just a centimeter or two down the tip is plenty hot enough.** A: It sounds to me you are not using the right tip or solder wires. Fine tip for SMD and big tip for THT. The needle tip is only for tiny pads and should be used with thin solder wires like .5mm and .3mm. **Q: Does this come with the metal tip cleaner pictured? Completely useless here. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Heats up Fast *by S***E on 26 August 2026* This soldering iron heats up quickly and stays hot for medium to small sized soldering. I have been using this for about a year now building and reparing rc cars and fpv quadcopters. This is absolutly high enough quality for the hobbiest like me. Especially for the price. I probably used this way more than the average hobiest in that last year and I did have an issue with the handle cracking. This has a 1 year warranty so I was covered! The support through amazon was super quick and I had a new handle in a couple days.
