No stopper, plug, or cap. Water goes in, water goes out. Installation... a "snake" , you know, the kind you learned to make out of play-doh in kindergarten, under the lip assures a water tight seal when you snug up the ring nut underneath. What they didn't tell me was the "tail pipe " is screwed into the body of the thing. Water leaked from those threads until I took it apart and added 4 layers of plumber's Teflon tape to the threads.
