It would open the old wheel type valves but pliers would be smaller and more obust. **Q: My mother is unable to open jars as she does not have the strength to grip the top. Would she be able to use this item with her limited grip ability** A: I'm not sure how much grip ability your mother has, but if she can open a fridge door or pull down a handle then this opener should be fine. I find that its easier to open a jar if you hold it for a couple of seconds to release some pressure before turning the lid. **Q: Will this work with the small screw tops on fruit juice cartons?** A: The only lid it struggles with is the tops on bleach bottles etc. Which have compress and twist.otherwise I haven't found anything it doesn't open, including juice cartons **Q: Will this open bleach bottle tops where you have to squeeze and turn?** A: Hello Margaret, I've just tried my opener on a slanted-top Domestos bottle - not suitable, equally unsuitable on a squeeze & turn 45mm cap on a canister of cleaning fluid because you need THREE hands.The product is great for opening champagne bottles, jam jars, milk cartons, but the manufacturer's comment is wise and delineates the limitations of an essentially good product. My own advice re bleach bottles is to get an able-handed helper to decant some into a non-reactive plastic bottle with a simple top AND CLEARLY MARK the bottle.An additional point, the product I bought via Amazon, looks and feels like the very high quality Brabantia items we have already BUT it is not stamped "Brabantia" and the handles are paler in colour than the older items - I suspect it is counterfeit as have been several CDs I bought via Amazon, buy carefully. ## Customer Reviews ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Indispensible in any Kitchen *by C***R on 8 July 2025* Indispensible! Its great for safely removing those lids or bottle tops that otherwise almost break your wrist. I bought this item for a lady of 92. Needless to say, she does not have a lot of strength and therefore is grateful. This opener is well made, works well and has several different parts for different size lids or tops.
