It did fall when I had a few friends over and they put their coats on it. I love the shelf for extra storage. Use it every day and in the summer great for purses in late jackets. Even when I hang all the towels on one side of the rack, it doesn't lean or tip because it has three legs - this was a big deciding factor for me as the single leg stands can tip over and that's super frustrating. Also I liked the look and convenience of the shelf - that was just an extra bonus in the design of this rack for me. I could use this in the main entry for coats or in the closet/bedroom for clothes and hats - it's very versitile, but for us, it's the perfect place to hang towels in the master bathroom.

**Q: if I put it in the shortest height it can go, how many jackets can you fit?**
A: There are 6 hooks. At staggered heights.  So you can fit 6.

**Q: Does this rack have a maximum weight it can hold? I need it to be able to hold several pairs of winter coveralls.**
A: If evenly distributed it holds winter coats all the way around.

**Q: Can these hooks hold plants?**
A: They're not really "hooks".  Hanging baskets would definitely slide down the posts and lean up against the center pole.

**Q: is this solid wood or manufactured?**
A: I don’t think it’s solid I think it’s more of the fabricators material
