Saw this items discussed on a Honda generator forum by survivalist types. The concept is that the OEM Honda switch shuts off both the gas and ignition, so the carb and fuel lines are still full when the engine stops. This kit separates the ignition stop from the fuel stop. So, if you use your generator infrequently, with this kit you 1) shut off the fuel with the Honda switch, 2) let the engine run for about a minute until it starts to hiccup due to fuel starvation, 3) turn off the ignition with the kit switch. Next time you start the generator, use full choke (you probably would anyway) and give it maybe 2-3 pulls (especially if you feel for the start of the compression stroke with the pull cord to get max value per pull) and it starts - even after 6 months. You could simply buy a $2 switch, but the kit feels great. Installation is really easy - you could cut the hole with an X-Acto knife if you don't have the right size drill, and use a blow dryer to get the decals to really stick well. ### ⭐⭐ Be careful which order you go by when installing parts *by S***. on March 4, 2019* Good product but CRAPPY INSTRUCTIONS & CRAPPY SWITCH. The switch and decals are there.. however, there is an order to things that they don’t explain.Step1: After you drill the 5/8 holeStep 2: then install the decal before youStep3: add the switch.I had to peel the decal off a few times which made it lose some adhesive.The good:The connectors do match the factory switch set up.The bad:The switch itself doesn’t have any distinguishable colors to let you know if it is off or on! This means I’ll have to mess with it to figure out which one is off/ on after I start it up. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ IMPRESSED *by S***E on March 24, 2019* I got my conversion kit a couple of days ago an just installed it. It's a little pricey for what you get, but the parts are high quality and the instructions were excellent. It didn't take long to install and the labels were nicely done. I started it up ran it for a few minutes, hit the stop button and it shut right down. I started it again turned off the fuel and a few minutes later it ran itself out of gas. I turned on the fuel, gave it a couple of pulls, it started right up. I've had major problems in the past starting the generator after a few months, time will tell if this makes a difference.
