I don’t generally leave reviews, but I felt compelled to do so with this product. I literally use it every day. I use it for my morning journaling and for my sketches (I’m a wannabe artist lol). I want to start with the presentation because it is so classy. It comes in a very fancy looking gift box (sealed in plastic wrapping). I actually use the box to store the journal and some of my pens in. Once you open up the box you see the hidden treasure that is this leather bound notebook. It honestly is a work of art! The journal is also sealed in plastic wrapping (so you know it arrives in perfect shape). When you take the journal out of its wrapping, you get a waft of that great real crazy horse leather smell. Speaking of the leather, it is extremely high quality. Very soft and has a rustic vintage look to it. Something about the style and feel of this journal just inspires be to write and draw and gets my creative juices flowing. It is leather bound and has a cool leather strap which allows you to keep it closed and secure. It is a perfect size at 7 x 5 inches. It’s described as a traveler’s journal or diary and that is exactly what I would consider it as you can take it with you everywhere you go. I like the fact that I can bring it with me throughout the day in case I get inspired. The best part of all may be the quality of the paper. You can tell it is handmade paper, very smooth and perfect thickness. I have lot of experience with journals and notepads and this is the best quality paper I’ve seen. I also like the story behind the meaning of the journal with the embossed Celtic knot of journey and return. Not only is it a cool looking symbol, it is perfect for someone like me who likes to capture my “journey” through my writing and my art. Oh, and there is also a pen holder on the inside of the journal which is nifty for storing whatever pen I’m using. I can pretty much guarantee you will not find a better quality leather journal than this. It should be way more expensive, it is a steal for the price! The paper is quality, with no bleed through so far (I've been using it for two weeks and use a 0.7 rosewood ballpoint) with plenty of pages to fill. Ample space for sketches as well. One of the best things I can say is that they had the foresight to include a cardboard sleeve around the paper to absorb the staining from the leather after production. It's a small thing but was the biggest reason I didn't choose a similar product when reading reviews while shopping. Excellent job Golden State Ink, I look forward to filling this journal.
