To seal any damp that might come up through the slabs I did some research about damp proof course products and went for Drybase as it was available in an easy to apply liquid with a brush or roller, I used a brush. It also dries very quickly and has hardly any odour. I liked the fact it not only protects against damp but also various harmful gases. I cleaned the slabs before application and although 2 coats are recommended to be on the safe side and to fill in the tiny gaps between the slabs I put 4 coats on. Criss crossing coats. It took about 6hours altogether from application to completion. I'm very pleased with the finish, it feels warm to the touch, the gaps are sealed between the slabs and where the bottom of the walls join the floor. The temperature outside when I did it was around 20C. I laid the vinyl flooring the next morning and an outdoor rug just protect the vinyl a bit. It really is brilliant stuff. In fact it's so good I've used some of it to repaint the top of my large air source heat pump, because the window installers had scratched the paint off when fitting a new kitchen window and I didn't want the AHP cover to rust. In fact I've only just painted the AHP top cover and it's just 10C outside maybe a bit less, and the Drybase still took less than an hour to dry between coats. It's not meant to be used in this way, but seeing as I'd bought a 5L can and only used about 1L I thought I might as well use some of it up. I believe from memory the shelf life once opened is about 2years if kept sealed and in a dark cool shed or outbuilding. I read that the life of the product used on the actual floor is about 2-3yrs so I'll give the porch floor another 4 coats in 2 years time whether it needs it or not. So yes I'd recommend this product, the hardest thing was getting the lid off and putting it back on again.
