You can open the holder to rotate the wax tablet, getting the most use out of it. **Q: is this product any good for embroidwry thread for cross stitching?** A: Yes, depending on how you like your finished item to look & what you will use the finished item for. Wax keeps the thread fibres smooth so stitches remain clearly a cross and are a little more water/stain resistant. Unwaxed stitches tend to spread a little,giving a smoother,less stitched look. Waxed items tend to wear better than unwaxed, so a cross stitch item made into clothing, a beg etc, is better waxed. Cross stitch framed and under glass doesn't need the extra protection. Is it effective on glitter thread as that really frays when used.** A: There is traction on the thread, but not the point of being sticky (in my opinion). I have never tried it on glitter thread, but if using only on ends of a working tread to prevent fraying... go for it. It could work in that manner. I wouldn’t put over the entire thread if it has glitter effect, might change the effect. **Q: I ordered white however the beeswax turned up yellow.. Can I use this on all coloured threads for cross stitching or will it discolour colours** A: I use this mainly for strengthening the yarn I use in pompon making and it works really well. I’ve not noticed a change in colour. I’ve seen other recommendations with regards to the use with cross stitch and they have been positive.
