It felt real, it was a nice soft "leather" and the straps were all very comfortable- to the point I almost kept it for the removable crossbody strap itself, lol. The only reason I returned it was because the other tote I purchased was a tad taller and I ended up needing the extra space for my purposes. Also- I didn't really like the stiff bottom- it felt like it made it really stick out from my body and that I'd end up hitting people walking around with it, lol. Really, that's probably the biggest reason I returned this bag, otherwise I would have just kept it and had two sizes of black leather totes, lol.
