Please disregard anyone who says you can. You will injure your dog if you use these. Do not use for dog nails and shame on anyone who puts an animal in danger. I am a groomer. Please use dog nail cutters which are very different and allow you to see the nail properly and control the cut. The best thing to use for dogs' nails is to buy any size Dremel Rotary Tool (I like the 4000 or 4300 model myself) and some sanding roll bits on Amazon. Buy the Dremel at Home Depot but buy all your bits on Amazon. This is a very useful tool for all sorts of projects at home, including filing your own toe nails. File down your dogs nails using the Dremel and avoid all issues of bleeding. Watch for skin inside the nail turning pink - that is too far. Work in direct sunlight so you have good light on the toes and can estimate how much to take off. Its much safer, faster, you get to round out the nails with no sharp edges, and you can take off much more. I only use the nail trimmer when nails are very long and then I finish up with the Dremel. **Q: How long is the cutting edge?** A: A little more than a 1/2" inch **Q: Can you use these for scale models** A: The only thing I use these for is cutting wafer thin dies for my rubber stamping. I also cut wire with them. Don't see why they wouldn't work for models. Hope this helps. **Q: Are the blades very narrow?
