Review: I use the device as a load balancing router and it performs well. - Easy to install and set up, although I have set up many routers. The load balancing function provides faster speeds when I want to download a lot of data. I just link my smartphone via another router.
Review: Problematic - Price wise this is a decent router but there seems to be a number of issues. Specifically, I just couldn't get the EasyVPN feature to work at all although old fashioned IPSEC VPN's seem fine if slightly more complex to configure. Also had major issues with DHCP with certain devices simply refusing to pull addresses from it. Eventually I had to disable DHCP on the Linksys and use another device (my Synology NAS) as a DHCP server and then everything started working as expected. For many users, however, DHCP should be a "it just works" feature and its alarming that something so basic would be unusable in a device from such a major vendor. The most worrying aspect of these issues is that Linksys haven't updated the firmware for nearly 10 months which does seem to imply that they are not really actively working on the problems with this device.

## Questions & Answers

**Q: I currently have bt broadband and looking to instal virgin media broadband with bt. will this router let me combine both broadband and use as one?**
A: I can't speak from experience but it certainly ought to work as that's what it's intended to do for you. In the Configuration there are options for - 'Link Failover' or 'Load Balance' as well as one called 'Sticky Balance'. If you haven't already done so go to the Linksys site and download their manual, you will get a good idea of what it can do and whether it'll suit you. I quite like my LRT224 so far, only had it for just over a month now - apart, that is, from the limited number of LAN ports. I was "spoiled" by having an RV016 (with its 13 LAN, 2 WAN & 1 DMZ) for quite a few years but there were no similar routers at a decent price point so now I have to use a switch along with the router.

**Q: Will this work with nordvpn?**
A: Hi. No, The LRT214 won't work with NordVPN.

**Q: Is the linksys lrt214 business gigabit wired vpn router compatible with an adsl modem router? (bt business broard band) 69mbps down :( + 20mbps up :)**
A: Hi, 2005Guyver01. The WAN ports can be connected with DSL or cable modems provided by your Internet Service Provider (ISP).

**Q: Does it support the SuperHub cable modem from Virgin Media UK? I'm currently using an IPoE setting on my existing router**
A: You can select 'Obtain IP address automatically' which should work. I'm assuming IPoE stands for 'IP over Ethernet' (it's not a common term). An easy way to check would be to connect a computer directly to the modem instead of through your current router (unplug the ethernet cable from the router and plug it into the back of the computer). Set the computer to 'Obtain IP automatically' (DHCP). If you can connect to the internet on that computer, it will work.

### ⭐ Unfit for Business Purposes
*by E***C on 13 October 2017*

Acquired this router a week ago. On the positive side setup was a piece of cake, VPN configuration easy, nice features (Local DNS, Dual WAN, SPI firewall) BUT after just a few days issues started to appear. SIP Phones on our network couldn't ring any more, OpenVPN was slow and buggy and most of all the router started freezing up every evening and needed a cold restart every morning. Tried several factory reset / firmware upgrade / ... but no success Not really fit for a business that relies on its connectivity. Switching to a Cisco RV325.
