If you want long smooth dowels this isn't what you want. However it is a super excellent peg maker. The plate I received is heavy steel with holes of the stated the dimension. The back side of the holes are slightly tapered so the peg can be driven freely through the plate. I use square stock and start with a hole slightly bigger that what I want the final peg to be.
