I fitted the unit over the radiator - it just fits between the inner and outer parts. At first, feeling the slight. warmish flow of air from this unit, we thought it couldn't possibly make much difference - BUT IT DOES! Obviously, it can't make a huge difference - it isn't a heater - it just redirects some of the warm air which would otherwise just rise up (and over the cold window!) However, after a short time, we found that it really made a difference to the overall warmth in our lounge today. I checked and could see that the amount of electricity it used was very low - less than our dehumidifier uses. So, a good buy as far as we are concerned. Oh - and it's very quiet too! Update: As others have said, the magnets on the legs are woefully inadequate, so I have bolted two strong circular magnets on instead. (See photo) This not only holds the unit securely on any radiator, but also positions the air intake directly over the top of the radiator front. Improved warm air flow. Review: Not bad but could be improved - My problem is that the radiator in our living room is undersized, and it would be a lot of trouble to install an additional radiator. On cold winter days we use our electric fire to get the room up to temperature quickly. I bought the radiator fan to see if it would boost the radiator output so that we could use the electric fire less. The improvement is not dramatic, but it does work. I did several tests, and found that the room gets up to temperature rather more quickly, due to the substantially increased air flow. The two main problems with the product are 1) Noise - it's bearable, but can be rather annoying when there is no TV on, and the room is otherwise quiet. Our electric fire has a similar fan and is much quieter in comparison. I feel the noise could be reduced if the manufacturer used a better motor. 2) No thermostat to switch the fan on automatically whenever the radiator becomes warm. (When the fan is not switched on, the air flow is actually rather worse than it was before fitting). The description suggests it does but plenty of reviews suggest not.** A: No, it doesn't have a thermostat so you have to keep an eye on it when the temperature drops or you circulate cool air, quite noisy too.. **Q: Does anyone know if this would work on an oil filled free standing radiator? Thanks.** A: In response to your question, no , in fact stay clear as they don’t actually work, yes it works mechanicaly, but doesn’t work circulating air. It has 2 legs at the front and it comes with 2 screw on legs for the back. Depending on what type of radiator you have, you might want to fit the back legs to make it stable....I didn't need back legs. The cable is I'd say about 3 meters, I was prepared to get an extension cord but I didn't need one which pleased me. My video shows it on setting no.1, it's a low humming noise, nothing that will distract you and it flows out warm air. It's not blasting the air out but you can feel the warm air if you put your hand near the item. I'm sitting a few feet away from the rad and I can def feel warmer. Setting no.2 is a tiny bit louder and more warm air is being pushed thru the fan. You literally take it out the box, sit it on your radiator and plug it in. Easy to set up On really cold nights, I might have to put it to no.2 but on a normal winter night no.1 feels great I chose this radiator fan opposed to others, as this directs the warm air towards the room, whereas most of the others I looked at, the fans were pointing upwards. I'm so glad I chose this fan, the humming isn't loud/annoying. I could def use this in a bedroom as it isn't loud enough to disturb my sleep I also think this looks smart, not bulky or odd looking It's not an electric heater so don't expect to feel mega hot.
