## Description

The Crossroads series pays homage to the style & sound of classic instruments from 1930?s America. Tanglewood set out to create an instrument that evokes these traditional values, & commissioned the services of a very special luthier, Michael Sanden, the man behind Tanglewood Masterdesign. Michael is the creator of the Sanden Guitar company in Sweden, and now the chief design consultant for Tanglewood Guitars. Michael started with the tree, selecting timbers that will sound good together, making the soundboards a precise measurement so they will flex and respond to the players attack, and then he braces the instrument with his own patterns to make each instrument have its own personality. It?s not just the special bracing, or the woods that are selected, or the construction method even. All these are vital components for any guitar? but on Crossroads Michael wanted to create something very special. He wanted to make a guitar that could have the sound that any musician, professional or amateur could appreciate. He wanted to make the guitar look authentic to the 1930?s era, adding a wonderful dark tobacco burst stain to the timbers to make the Crossroads guitars look historic and simply elegant. And he demanded that the neck profiles and bridge contouring and fret inlaying should be implemented without regard to the price of manufacturing, to proudly reflect the Tanglewood ethos of outstanding value and performance.

## Questions & Answers

**Q: I don't know if this makes sense but I have put new strings on and when I play it rattles. Why is this do strings come in different thickness?**
A: yeah, mine rattled when it came, but as someone already said it was resolved by changing string gauge...../Users/colinsmith/Desktop/IMG_0845 2.jpg/Users/colinsmith/Desktop/IMG_0846 2.jpg. they are great guitars but incredibly affordable, to the extent I decided to muck about with mine !!

**Q: Why does it say 240 volts in the product information?**
A: No idea. It's not electric in any way.

**Q: Is this guitar suitable for lefthand person**
A: No you can't just swap the strings around as someone suggested. The saddle in the bridge can be reversed 180 degrees but the nut is set for right handed strings order. It would have to be replaced with a left handed specific version to the same width (not cheap plastic! ABS or bone). String slots would then have to be filed down to optimum height( maybe nothing if you are lucky). I have one of these. It sounds brilliant.

**Q: So I've never played the guitar and I'm about to learn and need to order a guitar, would this be a good starter??**
A: This model is the 'D' version which means 'Dreadnought' size. The body is bigger, deeper & louder than others Tanglewood do in the same range. For a child or smaller person who doesn't want to feel overwhelmed by the body, the smaller TWCR-'O' might be a better bet. Sound is still good. Just the body is a little smaller and shallower - same neck scale length. I have both and love them.

## Customer Reviews

### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ An impressive guitar fir its price.
*by F***S on 4 April 2021*

I've never had a tanglewood before. And I'm happy I have one now. I have taken up the old guitar after a hell of a long break must be something like 6 or 7 years now. But this convinced me on price point and name recognition. Having never had one before and being an ibanez guy in the past, it was a little odd at first but I settled in very quickly. The neck has a ridge like finish. Thats what was odd. But again I settled into it quickly. And I have to say its quite comfortable to play too. The action is set at a reasonable height for my playing at least and the starter strings seem to be about a .12 gauge set. Great sound, with a lovely boomy bottom and a decently bright top. I use D'addario strings as a standard. The finish is just beautiful. I am a sucker for a matte finish but it does grab the light well when the sun hits it. I will say this though, the head is small. Too small for my wall hanger. So it rests in the top and bottom E tuning screws. So now it sits on a stand on the floor. The neck is a smidge narrow, so fatter hands and fingers may struggle a little fretting compact chords. That said my ham hock hands and sausage fingers do just fine. All in all a great guitar for its price.

### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Amazing beginner or party guitar
*by G***H on 8 April 2021*

This arrived today. I normally don't bother to review items, but I felt compelled to write one for this guitar. I bought it for a friend who is learning. I thought I would have an extensive set up to do. I was wrong, almost perfect out of the box!The neck had a slight back bow so the strings rattled all over, a quick quarter turn to loosen the truss rod and it was playing like a dream. I thought I'd then have to lower the saddle and adjust the nut slots but they are well within acceptable heights. The frets are perfect, didn't need polished or the ends filed. I thought the fretboard would be dry and need oil, wrong again, perfect. The tuners are decent. The fit and finish are amazing. There was a small spot of something sticky on the back, damp cloth, sorted. It looks, feels, plays and sounds absolutely first class! All in all; amazing. Why didn't they have great guitars this cheap when I was learning? You'd swear it was £250! Great stuff Tanglewood!
