The borosilicate glass is thick and will withstand any chemical you throw at it (except hydrofluoric acid obviously, don't use that in glass) as well as withstanding temperatures normal glass will not. I could see a lot of uses for these outside of holding liquid chemicals that need a leak proof borosilicate bottle, maybe moonshiners might like them (probably the larger sized version of these same bottles, which I also bought and am also very happy with) or for the rest of us non moonshiners, maybe holding or mixing other beverages as you can shake these without fear of spilling. I made the mistake of having them a bit cracked and my liquid boiled out. Also fill water in pressure cooker as high as the water is in the bottle. **Q: Can these be used on a magnetic stirrer with a hot plate?** A: Some of the bottoms of mine are insanely uneven, but i have used them on a hot plate with stirrer and i have also used them in a pressure cooker and they have had no real problems so far. **Q: How do you exlain one of mine cracking from thermal shock when I added room temp water after being microwaved for thirty seconds?** A: Very poor tempering, poor quality glass. I doubt these bottles are really borosilicate. I’ve had the same thermal cracking issues.
