The motor should be square to the ceiling or the plastic gears will wear. I made a small painted wooden plate up to which I screwed the motor. The plate was designed to be in the correct plane when screwed to , in my case, a window lintel and could be quickly and easily unscrewed after use. The reality is that it has stayed in place for occasional use **Q: Does it come a standard UK plug?** A: No you wire into the mains,i have one in my Bar and put it in place of ceiling light fitting so controlled by light switch. **Q: hi is this a plug in motor and do you have to screw it into the ceiling? im after something I can take down easily after a party.** A: It is a plug in motor and you do have to screw it into the ceiling. Purchased for motor rather than as a mirror ball. **Q: Can this replace a nomal light fitting??** A: hi it can be installed onto the wiring of an existing light fitting (the motor will then rotate the mirror ball when switched on by existing light switch BUT the mirror ball motor has no light built in to it. Maybe it's the fact that I want to use this as a permanent piece of decor in my sitting room rather than a typical noisy public space. But the hum and whirring is definitely audible when watching TV. It's not too distracting it's more of a constant annoying background noise, where you really notice and appreciate the absence of the noise when it's turned off , more than the presence of the noise.
