I haven't tested them at night efficiency yet, but I have put them in dark places like my closet. Very easy to use and install, and it was easy to uninstall in most areas so far, but was too stuck in the area above my kitchen sink that I wanted a light at, however it took some time to remove it and I ended up scratching some paint off the wooden area above my kitchen sink. That is the only reason why I gave it 4 stars, due to removing them from different surfaces. It didn't effect the wood in my closet, but it did effect the wood above my kitchen sink, so now I'm going to find some place else for that puck light. I might use it in my closet to get more light. One is useful there, but I think two will make it far easier to see. The 3rd puck light is on my bedroom wall because my bedside lamp is far from the door and when I close my door, it's pitch black in my room and I can't see where I'm going. So I installed it near the door so that when I enter, I just got to press the light and be able to see where I'm going. I do love the color changing feature (13 colors) and effects (fade, jump). There are 6 levels between brightness (1 is the most dim and 6 is the brightest) You just have to press the brightness button up or down 5 times to go from really dim to super bright and vice versa. I also tried the red light color when all the lights were off and the door was closed to my bathroom and it looked creepy :) So you could definitely set a mood or theme with these.
