## Description

The Nesco SB-01 Electric Burner is great for simmering, boiling, frying or sautéing for preparing meals when camping, boating or to use in college dorms! The electric burner has a high quality cast iron plate, 7.4-Inch in diameter. The burner can be used with all flat bottom cookware, including metal, glass, ceramic, woks and teakettles. The unit features stainless steel housing, automatic safety shut-off and thermostat control knob with pilot light. The thermal fuse helps protect from overheating. 1500 Watts.

Review: Terrific Buy - I purchased this as a substitute for using the gas range in my camper, with the excess heat of the gas, and poor temperature regulation. The results, perfect! I use it with my 11' cast Iron fry pan, and 10" griddle, as well as a 2 qt. saucepan with perfect results every time. It maintains the heat you set it to, and even egg beaters, and glutin free pancakes come out perfect every time, which are both subject to scorching if gotten too hot. But when I want the heat, I do hash browns and stir fry with the same perfect results. Heat up is quicker than on my (8' burner) gas range, and I don't kill the air conditioning. I haven't found a down side (other than no degree numbers, just an uncalibrated scale), works better than expected. A comment was made about rusting, duh, its a cast Iron burner. Treat it with a little oil (I use flaxseed) when cool, like any other cast Iron cookware.

## Questions & Answers

**Q: How is this for boiling a good bit of water for 15 or more minutes, for pasta or other things?  Say, 3 quarts of water or so?**
A: Yes, it is great for boiling small or large amounts of water. I've used it to easily boil over 6 17oz bottles of water. The temperature can actually get hotter than boiling. This is a very high powered warmer and I highly recommend it.

**Q: Can this reach and maintain 350 degrees  F.?  Hotter would be better, but 350 minimum. Thank you**
A: There is option for minimum and maximum setting for temperture.  I am sure it will be higher than your required minimum of 350.

**Q: Is it a 2 prong or 3 prong?  Thanks**
A: It is 3 prong (standard grounded USA 120V) plug.  By UL standards any heating appliance must be for safety.

**Q: How hot can this get? What is the maximum temperature it can reach?**
A: Sorry, I don't know exactly maximum temperature. When you turn on high,  it takes about 5-8 minutes to warm up, after that it is very hot. When you turn off, it's still hot , about 5-8 minutes to cool down. I have used this product 3-4 years. I like it. I hope my answer helps you.

### ⭐ Loved my first Nesco burner, but this one let me down.

I bought one of these Nesco burners back in 2015, and let me tell ya, it was a little workhorse. I was so glad to have that burner in storage when my home was destroyed by a storm. That burner was my only "stove" from 2016 until earlier this year (2020). I never had a problem boiling water for pasta, or searing a steak, or cooking more delicate things like eggs or grilled cheese sandwiches. The burner was always up to the task. So when my trusty Nesco burner finally bit the dust earlier this year, I bought a new one right away, expecting the same great performance. However, the new burner made a humming/buzzing noise most of the time and took FOREVER to cook anything. And then the thing quit altogether, within a couple of months of purchase. It's been sitting in my garage since then (that was in May). I'm just now getting around to writing the review. I've been relying on my microwave and instant pot since then, but finally purchased a Cukor 1500W burner last week and have been very pleased with it so far.
