It does not really hurt peeling it off. I put on a good amount. It is a slight pain to get off fingers , soap hot water and in the end scrub off fingers with a rag. I think the bottle says once a week (I no longer have it as I used it all) But I did it twice so only got a few good uses out of it as it is not a large bottle. It is not a miracle worker, but as part of a skin care is not bad.
