## Description

The MOB1 is intended to be installed within the life-jacket and will activate automatically on inflation, sending the first alert within 15 seconds.The MOB1 communicates with the vessel you have been separated from and other vessels in the vicinity (up to 5 miles range dependent on conditions). To alert rescue authorities, an alternative product the rescueME PLB1 communicates directly via a dedicated search and rescue satellite network.In an emergency rescueME MOB1 provides 2 methods of rapidly communicating your position, accurate to a few metres, back to the vessel, plus providing visual indication via its built in strobe light.The best chance of rapid rescue if you fall overboard comes from your own vessel. Your crew needs to be immediately aware of the incident and keep track of your position whilst recovery is carried out. Even in the most moderate of seas it is alarming how quickly a visual sighting of a man overboard can be lost.Once activated your MOB1 will transmit an alert to all AIS receivers and AIS enabled plotters in the vicinity. The integrated GPS ensures precise location is sent to your vessel and any others that may be assisting.Compatibility: Most modern AIS plotters and DSC VHF comply with the standards required to receive MOB transmissions. It is however, especially if you are using older equipment, recommended that you check compatibility with the equipment manufacturer.An additional feature of the MOB1, is its ability to activate the DSC alarm on your vessels VHF, alerting your crew to the situation.

**Q: How does this activate? Hydrostatic?**
A: You can activate it manually  or it has an auto deploy via rip cord. The unit attaches to the manual inflate tube on the life jacket and there is a cord that attaches via an adhesive strip to the inflated part of the jacket. So, when the jacket deploys it pulls the rip cord and activates the device.

**Q: Can i test this with my chart plotter, that it sets a mob waypoint?**
A: Yes, but the chart plotter has to be connected to an AIS transceiver, then configure your chart plotter to show the AIS targets on screen.

**Q: Are you able to re-program a new mmsi for a different boat later?**
A: I don't have my device and instructions available to me right now (winter storage) but knowing how it is programmed, I would be astounded if it could not be.

**Q: Could this be used as a Solo Sailer? Can it be programmed to somehow disengage the autopilot so the boat would turn into the wind?**
A: This can be used at sea and would need to be on the person at all times. This type of device cant be programmed.

Happily I've not had to activate this, but I'm very glad I have it! No problem so far to take through airport security. I contacted Ocean Signal on two occasions, about this and their EPIRB, and they were incredibly helpful and fast in response, really outstanding, so I'll probably get their PLB1 too :)

### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Hope to never use this

Ok. It’s installed in my Spinlock life jacket, hope to never use this, but one of these or similar saved at least one sailor in the Caribbean 600 race I was in last month when a boat lost one of their crew and was picked up by another boat, seeing the MOB alarm.
