Until last year. I saw it but couldn't afford it. I said to myself, look girl you live in Athens. It probably rains 30 days a year. You don't need it. But still... A year later and a cheap broken dome umbrella in my history, I finally decided. It's going to be Lulu or wet shoulders. And today it came to my door! + delivered in a carton box, believe me it was a relief (especially for abroad buyers like myself). Last time I ordered a brolly it came wrapped up in a plastic bag and tata! broken. So fellow non UK citizens, don't be afraid, it will come safely to your door + Metal handle. It's sleek and it doesn't get sticky + smooth open/close mechanism. Being used to metal mechanisms with hard to push buttons, this umbrella feels like heaven + quality PVC, thick enough not to worry it can be torn + it doesn't turn the inside out, as most fabric ones do when the wind is strong + it's big enough to cover 2 people + it's absolute stylish. I don't have to say more, images speak for themselves - what hit me really bad is the plastic grey tip. It looks like metal on the pictures but it's not. It's plastic and it looks cheap. It's a pity because it spoils the whole luxury feeling - big to carry around (but if you're crafty you can easily make a nice long bag to carry it on one shoulder) - more grey than black. Seeing the pictures I expected the design to be black. But it's not, the cage is grey. - plastic odor (I guess that time after time it will wore off) - white powder thing in order to keep plastic cover away from colliding (I also think that it will come off with the first rain) I think that Lulu is an eye-candy umbrella, maybe over priced but at a fair quality. I don't regret spending my money on it. Review: Raindrops keep falling on my head (not) - Love my new umbrella, lovely design from Lulu. Nice quality product. It does have a bit of a plastic smell but it is ok. Only thing is, it hasn't rained since I got it! It is a lovely big size, fits you and your shoulder bag, no problems, you feel nice and cosy inside. Would have liked some way to carry it when closed. I had the need to get in touch with desertcart cos I thought it hadn't arrived (my husband had taken delivery and not told me) and they have a fab system where you click a button asking them to ring you 'now' or 'in 5 minutes' it is an excellent system and I spoke to some really helpful people. An umbrella that actually lifts the spirit... *by H***Y on 17 July 2012* I saw this umbrella on the Lulu Guinness website and coveted it for a long while. When I went to buy it, they had sold out so I went along to Amazon. This umbrella is such a beautiful thing. It is large,(so can fit two under it) and it is sturdy and tall. The handle is a very sassy silver (actual metal, not a sprayed plastic). The best part though is the birdcage design itself... It is so unusual and pretty. When I first got it, I actually looked forward to the rain so that I could use it! I absolutely adore my umbrella!
