I was concerned when reading some reviews that the outer film (with the thermal design on it) would come off easily, however if you follow the washing instructions written on the box carefully, you'll be fine! This mug has been an absolute star! (if you pardon the pun)

This is a great mug and comes with a film over the surface which is removed befor use. It does look like the heat sensitive layer is not very well bonded to the mug compared with other mugs we have had but so far with careful hand washing it's been totally fine.
