Product description Breast Cancer Survivor Susan Castriota was determined to find a way for frequent microwave users like herself to feel safe about the cooking process. Scientists have linked very low doses of BPA exposure to cancers, early onset of puberty, and many other diseases. Synthetic estrogens may leach from heated plastic into our food. A recent study found that even BPA-free plastics contain synthetic chemicals called EA (estrogen activities) which can migrate into food. In addition, it’s been proven that plastics, even after normal washing, harbor food borne bacteria, whereas glass does not. These findings inspired Susan to create the Cuchina Safe Lid as a safe alternative to plastic lids. OVEN USE Keep an eye on your meal while it cooks by covering your Pyrex, Corning, Dutch ovens and other cookware with the Cuchina Safe Lid, oven safe up to 400 degree Fahrenheit. The 3 vents allow steam to escape, helping to prevent boil-overs and lid rattling. MIRCOWAVE USE Cook, Steam and Reheat and in the microwave using the Cuchina Safe Lid. ‘Cook’ cereal, eggs, pasta, potatoes, meats, frozen meals, popcorn and cakes. ‘Steam’ fresh or frozen vegetables, rice, and seafood. ‘Reheat’ leftovers, melt butter or chocolate. The steam is vented by the 3 holes and greatly reduces the possibility of a steam explosion if a container is was not vented in a microwave oven. The 3 tabs/ears around the perimeter of the lid give good purchase for your hand so you have solid leverage to lift the cover off the container. AND — These glass lids are much easier to clean than having to wipe down a splatter inside your microwave oven. You might see that I am a bachelor and do a lot of microwave cooking, especially meat, because the water inside the meat is turned to steam ensuring the cooking thru and thru. These glass lids are well vented and the smaller one fits over a 4 cup pyrex glass measuring cup. The steam is vented by the 3 holes and greatly reduces the possibility of a steam explosion if a container is was not vented in a microwave oven. The 3 tabs/ears around the perimeter of the lid give good purchase for your hand so you have solid leverage to lift the cover off the container. AND — These glass lids are much easier to clean than having to wipe down a splatter inside your microwave oven. You might see that I am a bachelor and do a lot of microwave cooking, especially meat, because the water inside the meat is turned to steam ensuring the cooking thru and thru.
