I replaced it with 2 of the Cups for less than the cost of a replacement mug. These devices are much better now with longer battery life. I'm still using the original charging plates which is a bonus as I can charge in multiple locations. **Q: Do you have to use an Ember cup or am I able to use my other coffee mugs?**
A: You have to use the Ember cup. The saucer is just for recharging the cup.

**Q: I have to heat up my ordinary espresso cup with my automatic espresso maker. can the ember be heated before receiving the coffee?**
A: When the house (and cup) was really cold on some mornings, I'd preheat the Ember with hot tap water. That worked but there's no need to do it when the room temp is more normal.

**Q: Is the charging base compatible with the Ember Mug? (and is the cup compatible with the other ember mug charging bases).**
A: I have three different sized Ember mugs and use the bases interchangeably.

**Q: Does it get hot on the outside?**
A: Yeah, it’s not too hot but it’s hot on the outside, but it really keeps the coffee or whatever I have inside hot as well

### ⭐⭐⭐⭐ The Bluetooth is so broken

I really like this product and my household now has four of them but the Bluetooth connection in them is completely broken and it seems it’ll never be fixed. They will basically never seamlessly connect to your phone again after the initial setup so make sure you pick the right settings the first time and just don’t bother with the app again after that. If you ever do need to use the app again then you’re in for 10-15 minutes of trying to get it to connect and half the time it just won’t work at all no matter what dance you do with pairing, unpairing, holding buttons, or toggling settings. I’m a software engineer and I can’t even get it to work usually. Honestly they should be embarrassed that they’ve made such a nice looking product that functions well at its intended purpose of heating coffee but fumbled the software and firmware so badly, and they still haven’t fixed it for version 2. If the software is that impossible for them to get right then for the next version they should just remove Bluetooth and add buttons to adjust the temperature.
