It's a quick way to touch-up panels that have collected some small deposits (e.g. Tar Spots / Tree Sap), I use a clay mitt (or clay-bar) to remove deposits from the entire vehicle, then follow-up with the sponge when required. It is also very handy for removing 'Insect Spats' from windscreens, best to remove the worst of the spats with some detail-spray or window cleaner first (using a mircrofibre cloth). If the screen is heavily contaminated, the sponge will 'clog' badly if a 'Pre-Clean' is not carried out first, the clay sponge will then remove the really embedded deposits.To avoid damaging the paint work or glass, always use a detail-spray or warm water/shampoo solution, this prevents the clay grabbing at the surface, don't press too hard either, light pressure is all that's required. If you drop the sponge, just rinse off the debris (grit / small stones etc) with clean water, sounds obvious but don't place it into the bucket containing the shampoo solution until its been rinsed-off. If you've never used a 'Clay-Based' product before, you'll feel a slight resistance when passing over the area to be clayed (& a quiet 'scratching' noise, don't worry this is normal). Try to use on relatively cool surfaces (the clay can stick badly if the bodywork / glass is too hot), if it's a hot day, only 'clay' in the shade or use early morning or late evening.When completely clean the clay sponge with pass smoothly over the surface (silently), just remember to keep the surface well lubricated & you really won't believe how smooth the surface will be after using the sponge. It will also increase the life of your vehicles wiper blades & more importantly, keep your windscreen beautifully clear, what more can you ask from a simple sponge? If seems well made, I've used it numerous times, just rinse it thoroughly when finished & leave it to 'Air-Dry' (don't let the clay-side stick to another surface, otherwise it will damage the clay when removed). A magic product no motorist or detailer should be without, great value to. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐ Not perfect, but good value !! *by S***Y on Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 12 May 2016* Only real critical point is that this not as good as using clay. It can remove some of the surface contamination but is only really useful for providing a quick 'clean' to a surface that is not seriously covered in contaminants.Having said that, it is a good product and is much quicker to use than clay when your car needs only a 'light' claying. Not sure how long the product will last, but I have used it on one complete 'claying' of my car and there is some signs the edge of the clay layer on the sponge are wearing.
