After reading this manga, I can gladly say it is much more true to the original source material like the 1991 anime is, unlike the 2020 anime - which I love. There's MANY scenes cut out of the 2020 anime to keep it more condensed, AND a disappointing amount of censorship (think Dragon Ball Z vs Dragon Ball Kai animes, Z has most of the original material from the manga where as Kai cut a massive portion of "filler" and included tons of censorship, such as removing a lot of blood, covering up penetrated wounds with just..darkness, removal of most of the perverted old man humour, etc) which is no different compared to the Dragon Quest 1991 and 2020 animes. The same cuts were unfortunately made to the new 2020 version of the anime, not to mention the amazing original Dragon Quest music is missing due to copyright issues.
