## Description

Product Description

Review: Expensive, doesn't last long, but it goes on well and it looks fabulous - I had an unusual task to perform in the summer. Many years ago my wife bought a chiminea with money my family had given to her for her 40th birthday. It was a VW Camper Van T1 manufactured out of an old gas bottle, and when we bough it it looked incredible in polished metal. Within a couple of weeks, however, it was rusting away. It still looked good, but not the eye-catching spectacle it was when we bought it. I had a week off during the summer and amongst my many tasks I had decided I wanted to surprise her and renovate her chiminea. Instead of trying to return it to polished metal, I wanted to paint it up in the colours she'd have a VW camper van. So, red bodywork with white upper and black piping and tyres obviously. I went on a quest to find the ideal paint. This Vitcas paint seemed to be my best bet. I wanted to stick with one manufacturer, and they did the same furnace paint of the same specification in all three colours that I wanted. The reviews were generally positive, but I took heed of the negative ones too. It took me a week to do, but with some intricate masking and lots of patience I built up four layers of paint of the three colours and revealed the finished product to my delighted wife. The paint itself was very good. I learned very quickly how close I could get before the spray was too rich and would begin to run. Once you figure that out you can get quite accurate and artistic with them. You do have to be modest with how much you use as the spray doesn't last too long. I ended up buying twice as much paint as I expected, so the who process became really expensive as the cans aren't cheap, but the amount of brownie points I've earned has been more than worth it.

## Questions & Answers

**Q: Can it be used for the inside of a fire pit...**
A: I sprayed my Firepit all over, inside & out, with two tins of this paint after wire brushing off the surface rust. My 32 inch Jane Firepit with mosaic band then looked as good as new. I have used it for late evening warmth/atmosphere at two BBQs & all surfaces covered with paint remain unspoiled/protected from the elements! I do however believe that the spray paint inside the pit will eventually flake off. At this point I will most likely coat the inside with oil (as it was when I bought it) after a wire brushing. Subsequently, I most likely will spray it again with the same paint to make it look as good as new again.
Hope this info helps you.

**Q: Hi! i want to paint the front of my wall hung gas fire. the heat has created a mark and i want to cover it. am i able to use this?**
A: Should be ok, what we did with ours was to rub over with fine sand paper, Wipe off dust, mask up what you don’t want painted, give several coats to prevent runs. Came out really well on ours...

**Q: Hi is this a Matt Black in colour as this is for my gas stove I did'nt want a shiny finish**
A: Curious to know how you got on with the gas stove? I want to restore my gas stove pan stand but am worried about this paint being in contact with naked flame

**Q: How long do you wait between coats?**

### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Black paint spray
*by G***Y on 29 November 2025*

Good quality paint spray. Good finish and value for money

### ⭐⭐⭐⭐ You’re gonna need a lot!
*by A***A on 12 October 2021*

As per standard practice with spray paints, it needs a thorough shaking (the full 2 mins) and plenty of ventilation if you can’t use it outside. This stuff smells bad! One of the cans clogged up almost immediately so I had to clear out the spray nozzle with a large pin. It worked fine after that. I’d already used 3 cans of paint and it didn’t cover at all well - bear in mind, this is the paint Vitcas recommend for painting their own vermiculite board. Nowhere on their own website does it say you will need many, many coats of this paint on their board - it simply says the usual ‘several thin coats are better…’ I bought via Amazon because Vitcas charge a huge amount for P&P so unless you’re buying large, bulky items, Amazon it is, even though the individual can is more expensive. The overall cost purchasing 3 cans through Amazon saved me about £4 For an area of vermiculite board of about 1.5m2, I used 6 cans of paint to spray about 14 coats. I feel it would be more time saving and cost effective to buy a large tin of brush on heat resistant paint.
