Over the past 8 years neither their website or specification changed...As such, the model in my hand is slightly differen't to what is depicted in this listing, and the one depicted is different to a previous revision too! - the memory store function is now on the left & right of the dial, not the two micro buttons at the top. All the dial buttons have both "press" and "hold" dual functionality.I don't know whether I have a newer version or a very old stock version! Not very smart, eTAPE16.Dial buttons don't appear to me as very long lasting or durable and if anything, a bit cheap - only time will tell. Indented screen looks like a crevice for dirt build up, so am confused why they didnt make it flush (or a clear cover) and keep the overall sleek design of the unit.The tape (blade) seems quality built over your standard tape measure, so a positive here. Matt finish reduces reflections (ease of reading).Unfortunately accuracy is rated as 1/16th " or 1 mm (on manufacturer's website), which is quite Ironic since 1/16th is 1.58mm. There is no indication as to whether this is a "EU Class I, II or III" tape measure, which is quite a significant factor.The "accuracy" here seems purposely misrepresented. It's not accuracy in a true sense, it's the "digital readout units" either worded in a misrepresentating way or the level of deviation from measurement (on the blade) to the digital read out.This is why inches are "accurate" to 1/16th of an inch, and centeremeters are accurate to 1mm - it's the smallest typical unit of measure, for the appropiate types (metric, imperial) on the digital read out. This is however, not true accuracy!The importance of "EU Class" for accuracy is based on the fact that, accuracy changes (decreases) the longer the tape gets. Class I @ 1 meter is accurate to +/- 0.3mm (1/3rd of a millimeter!) whereas Class I @ 10 meters is accurate to +/- 1.1millimeterAccuracy of Class II is double that for the specific tape lengths of Class I.They are advertising this as being MORE accurate because it is digital - a Class I tape measure upto 5M is MORE accurate than this, simply based on their own advertised specification! This has the potential of being even less accurate than they state.This therefore seems nothing more than a "magnified" read out per mm, and may just be calibrated to match what is printed on the blade (and not even a true digital measurement!)if you're measuring and cutting yourself, with the same tape measure, it's not a big deal. If you're measuring and sending something off to be cut, well, 2mm difference can be quite significant. The fact that they have no EU class and a fasely representing accuracy....This makes the display, IMHO, just a magnified readout and nothing to do with an accurate, digital measure.Edit: and I've just realised today, that the digital readout scans the black bars printed on the middle of the tape measure. Can't believe I missed this before.Pop the battery out, extend it and it will count that point from 0. It seems accurate and I like the display.It easily switches between Imperial an metric, I haven't really needed to use the memory so cannot comment on that.What I don't like is the mechanism that locks the tape in place. This is very stiff to use so cannot micro adjust the tape very easily. I have to push down very hard on it which then causes the tape to move.
