Review: I Am So Thankful these Exist! - When my baby boy was diagnosed with stage 2 ckd, I had to stop giving him everything he loved in life. Ok. That's an exaggeration. But his entire way of eating had to be changed. It was confusing to know what was ok for him to have and what was not. I'd read ten articles and get ten different answers. My little boy, Chewie, was used to getting a greenie bone every night before bed and they were no longer safe. Hard on the pup, and hard on the pups parent! Finally I decided we were going to turn this negative into a big positive. I started cutting up fresh, organic fruit that we would share in bed before going to sleep. He loved it. A friend of mine in London knew Chewie's diagnosis. Knowing how much I love him, she sent us a box of Mattie's treats. They are perfect!! Chewie absolutely LOVES them! These treats are hard, though. Chewie needed me to break them up for him. This was a problem: my hands are getting a little arthritic. I started placing the treat in a small container and adding just enough bottled water to cover it. Just let the treat soak in the water for 5-10 minutes and it softens up just right! You can easily break the treat apart with your hands, and it's much easier for little dogs with smaller mouths and missing teeth to eat! Also, ckd dogs require moisture rich foods, so this is another reason to give it this added hydration. This treat change, along with a food change to Dr Harveys Canine Health, looks like it's helping! Chewie's kidney values (BUN and creatinine) were too high one year ago. Last week we redid the blood work and did a UA. HIS RESULTS ARE NORMAL on BOTH. His appetite is great, he's playful, and I couldn't be more thankful! We are repeat buyers of Mattie's treats and highly recommend them! Review: Very nice treats - My dog loves these treats . Easy to break into smaller pieces. Bit pricey unfortunately ## Features - Special treats for special dogs: Low Protein, Low Phosphorus, Low Sodium - Supporting canine health research: A percentage of sales from every box is donated to fund canine kidney disease research, helping you contribute to better lives for dogs with every purchase - Simple and tasty ingredients: 6 simple ingredients provide a tasty treat designed to complement almost every dog's diet; light rye flour, tapioca flour, pure pumpkin, cinnamon, fish oil (a good source of Omega 3's), canola oil. Dogs love the real pumpkin and cinnamon taste - Made in the USA: Each box contains 1 Pound (16oz/ 453.3 grams) of heart-shaped, crunchy treats that are made in the USA - Inspired by love and care: Our dog, Mattie was a happy-go-lucky member of our family and our hearts broke when she was diagnosed with a kidney condition. We were determined to give her the best life possible, so when we had difficulty finding a treat compatible with Mattie's condition, we consulted with her veterinarian, did extensive research, and we decided to bake homemade treats for Mattie ourselves. These treats helped maintain her health and brought a little joy back into our lives so we shared with the world ## Technical Specifications | Specification | Value | |---------------|-------| | ASIN | B00FBC7MCQ | | Additional Features | Low Protein, Low Phosphorus, Low Sodium Formula for Dogs with Kidney or Liver Conditions; Supports Canine Kidney Disease Research | | Age Range Description | All Life Stages | | Age range (description) | All Life Stages | | Allergen Information | Corn-Free, Preservative-Free, Soy Free, Wheat Free | | Animal Food Diet Type | Veterinary Diet | | Animal Food Ingredient Claim | No Artificial Colors | | Animal Food Nutrient Content Claim | Low Copper | | Best Sellers Rank | #38,819 in Pet Supplies ( See Top 100 in Pet Supplies ) #1,298 in Dog Treat Cookies, Biscuits & Snacks | | Brand | Mattie's Treats | | Brand Name | Mattie's Treats | | Breed Recommendation | Large Breeds, Medium Breeds | | Container Type | Bag | | Customer Reviews | 4.2 out of 5 stars 1,680 Reviews | | Dog Breed Size | All | | Flavor | Pumpkin | | Flavour | Pumpkin | | Item Form | Chunk | | Item Shape | heart shaped | | Item Weight | 454 g | | Item form | Chunk | | Manufacturer | Mattie's Treats | | Manufacturer Part Number | gooddewormer2019 | | Model Number | gooddewormer2019 | | Number of Items | 1 | | Occasion | Birthday | | Pet Type | Dog | | Product Benefits | Supports kidney health and funds research | | Recommended Uses For Product | Dietary supplement for dogs with kidney or liver conditions, Everyday treat for dogs with specific dietary needs | | Special Ingredients | pure pumpkin, omega 3 fish oil | | Special ingredients | pure pumpkin, omega 3 fish oil | | Specific Uses For Product | Kidney Care, Liver Care | | Specific uses for product | Kidney Care, Liver Care | | Target Species | Dog | | UPC | 859707004008 | ## Product Details - **Age range (description):** All Life Stages - **Brand:** Mattie's Treats - **Flavour:** Pumpkin - **Item form:** Chunk - **Specific uses for product:** Kidney Care, Liver Care ## Images ![Mattie’s Treats Dog Treats 16oz Low Protein Phosphorus Sodium - Image 1](https://m.media-amazon.com/images/I/71PAdLluzAL.jpg) ![Mattie’s Treats Dog Treats 16oz Low Protein Phosphorus Sodium - Image 2](https://m.media-amazon.com/images/I/81WnOanf6lL.jpg) ![Mattie’s Treats Dog Treats 16oz Low Protein Phosphorus Sodium - Image 3](https://m.media-amazon.com/images/I/71RQhS0PopL.jpg) ![Mattie’s Treats Dog Treats 16oz Low Protein Phosphorus Sodium - Image 4](https://m.media-amazon.com/images/I/91qAC3xuJYL.jpg) ![Mattie’s Treats Dog Treats 16oz Low Protein Phosphorus Sodium - Image 5](https://m.media-amazon.com/images/I/71eT0C5xDPL.jpg) ## Questions & Answers **Q: How big are these treats?** A: Hi again.
