The way you trigger it-it’s hard to put pressure on the device when using it to install screws. I don’t care for it. **Q: Is there a version of this tool with an interchangable battery so that it could be used for large jobs?** A: I don't think so but you could just carry a battery bank with usb port they are common. **Q: Why can't l find a US made cordless screwdriver?** A: I think this type of consumer stuff is mostly made overseas. I doubt that much in made in the US anymore, but this is a controversial subject. Makita is a Japan brand, but this item is probably made in China. Even the german brands (e.g. Wiha) outsource production. **Q: What is the rpm setting?** A: The speed is set by you trigger pressure, as is common with drill of all types. Practice this before using it on something expensive. Because I have several Makita tools and generally like them I purchased the DF001DW. It has it pros and cons. Pros - It comes with an impressive assortment of bits that will address anything I will do around this house. Cons - What I got seemed to be the Asian model. It came with, what I can only assume is an Asian electrical plug, and an adapter for the US market. There is no battery life indication and the USB charging connector is awkward to use. I've only used it a few times but it worked well in the light duty situation I was using it in. It's just not as convenient at the Craftsman that it's replacing and the charging system is, frankly, annoying.
