**Q: How long is the pestle & how deep is the mortar?**
A: The pestle is 9" and the mortar about 5" deep.  It was brought for our son in law who absolutely loves it - he spends a lot of time cooking.

**Q: Whats the best way to clean & treat the mortar ? i intend to use this for pounding rice (mochi)**
A: Ok to clean with hot water and washing liquid, but leave to dry completely... don't store in a damp place.
