I have it in my home studio and it's set at it's highest setting which provides a narrow top for the little keyboard/midi controller. At this height, it's slightly higher than my desk, but still works well for me and hold the midi-controller perfectly.It arrived lightning fast from Amazon, well packed and perfect condition. The only reason for the 4 stars and not 5 is that the base of the stand isn't perfectly level so it wobbles a little. Pretty annoying if you're trying to lay down a drum track and the thing is wobbling around. This is easily fixed with about 3 or 4 business cards under one of the feet. Certainly not a deal-breaker, and I wouldn't hesitate to buy another one. Despite this, it's very well made and sturdy. I'm 5' 9" and could probably stand and play this comfortably at it's highest (and narrowest) setting. It sticks out just under 10 inches from the wall (the controller is 8 inches deep- PERFECT! and the height is adjustable. I've got it right on the middle notch which is about 25 inches from the ground. I couldn't be happier with my purchase!
