Once clipped onto the controller it just immediately falls off under the pressure of your phone. However, I just took the plastic that was holding the usb cable together in the box ( and yes it does come with a wire so no idea why other reviews say it doesn’t) and I wrapped it around the two parts that are supposed to clip together. I’ve shown you what I mean in the attached photo. Also, saw a question addressing if this works with iPhone 8...it does despite the answer they got.
