I use it for a lot of things. But I use a good solvent for cleaning a firearm and a good lubricant for areas that need lubrication. There are better items that protect bare steel in the long run. After a competition match the famous Bill Wilson takes the grips off and drops his .45 in a bucket of CLP to soak. It's pretty messy after the first few shots! Then he puts it away for a few days before another match. **Q: Does this clp still contain ptfe (teflon)?** A: Michael, Breakfree CLP manufactured since 2012 contains no teflon. I had this same question answered to me on a technical site. **Q: Safe to use on a 709 slim?** A: Haven’t had any problem using on my collection.
