I will tell you they have been fun. My two kids have been playing on them constantly since we got it. I pulled it out of the package put the new rechargable batteries in and it has not needed charging for two days of nearly constant use. It takes 4 rechargable AAA batteries. I did out of curiosity put new AAA regular batteries in them and they do work but soon start showing a low battery indication. I assume that they have to be the ones provided though they will work with the others for a bit. They are very simple to use and sound quality is as good as any other walkie talkie on the market. I have found a number of regular uses for this thing because I thought I was spoiling my kids with this just to play with this so I started stealing one of them and while they are downstairs I can call them up for dinner without screaming my head off only to have them ignore me. I can guarantee you I will be taking these camping so one of us can stay with the slower hiker in the family and the other can head off to explore with the other and we can still communicate (sure you could do this with a phone but we often go remote places with no cell coverage) Instructions were simple to use and clear. I took them to the park today and let them play with them. They had a blast just splitting up to different parts of the playground and trying out different code names. I really don't think you can go wrong with these. I was going to test out their range and see if it was accurate but we have huge power lines nearby that disrupt radio frequencies so I am not sure it would have been an accurate test. My kids did head off to the neighbors house .2 miles away and they were able to talk to me when they accidently left one behind at my house. I wouldn't hesitate to purchase these again and I found them to be a remarkable quality for the price. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ buy at least a couple of sets! *by N***A on Reviewed in the United States on February 11, 2019* I bought two sets, so that the kids can play with it when friends are around as well. I may actually buy one more set in the summer. The kids loved them, but they need help with stopping at the right channel. You cannot click on a button to change the channel, instead you activate the change and then stop when the right channel is found. This requires good hand-eye coordination, which is very tough for a 7-year old and for adult too. I also like that I can keep one with me and summon the kids home without yelling through the backyards.I spent a lot of time searching and found a lot of the same sets with different names written on them.
