**Q: What is the thickness of the chain?**
A: Makes about 1/4 inch slice when cutting fire logs

**Q: Does this saw support any other size bars? Such as 18, 20,28 or is it specific to the 24 inch only?**
A: You can change bar length as long as you stay with 3/8 x 0.050 chain size. I purchased an Oregon 16 inch bar for my saw for most cutting around my property. You can go to a bigger bar but you sacrifice power. Your call

**Q: Is there any way to get the military discount purchasing through this store, or do you have to go to a retail location?**
A: Some business sites have that built in but Amazon is not one of those.  Would be great if they were.  Home Depot offers a 10 percent discount for military and so does Lowes

**Q: If this model overkill for home use and for one tree?**
A: Depends on the tree. Most "homeowner" chainsaws have 18-inch chains or smaller. This chainsaw has a 24-inch bar. If you have never used a chainsaw, I would not recommend it for home use on one tree. Also, I highly recommend getting a forestry helmet and, if new to chainsaws, a pair of kevlar chaps.

This is my 2nd 460 Rancher. After running them thru hundreds of tanks, countless hrs, prob a thousand trees, they just work. They aren't the speed demons of pro saws, but for every tree that a normal guy will encounter on his/her property it's a great saw. Keep it clean, buy a chain sharpening kit and keep the chain sharp, use the correct gas/oil mixture, read the instructions (and forum posts) if you havent used chainsaws much, and do the simple maintenance (including NOT leaving fuel in it for months at a time) and it'll last you for years. The one thing I'd suggest is to drop the 24" bar and throw a 20" bar on there -> it makes for a much more "usable" chainsaw. I've left the 24" bar on this new one, but I use a 20" bar on my old one. Maybe find or fabricate a set of larger dogs on it, but that's a personal opinion thing. I have a 2 Stihls (one smaller and one larger than the 460) and the Husky works out best for most jobs I do. Stay safe around trees and chainsaws.
